I had a job to do.
An assignment I had been hoping for.
To anyone else it might have appeared easy.
Interview the well-known plastic surgeon, Dr. Kean Bennett.
Determined to succeed, I powered right into it.
Except the man hated the media with an inexplainable passion.
And he despised me for being another annoying journalist chasing a story.
That’s when I screwed up.
I gave the surgeon the power to destroy me.
I’ve always believed there could be good hiding in the darkness, but maybe I was mistaken.
I came to that conclusion much too late.
I had already risked my life to get what I wanted.

My Rating: 5 stars!
Stefanie has been a friend of mine on Instagram since I started my blog, so I was very excited when she reached out to me and asked if I would like to read her book! I love mysteries, so it was a definite yes for me! I want to mention that being friends with her has no impact on my rating!
Ambivalent is Stefanie’s debut book and I would have never guessed it if I didn’t already know! The characters were well developed and I felt like I was experiencing the story through the characters eyes. I think it’s amazing when an author can give you that feeling!
I’m very hard to impress when it comes to mysteries. It’s hard for me to read one if I feel like the story is being predictable and drawn out. This was definitely not the case with Ambivalent. The book was perfectly paced and I was absolutely shocked at the end of the book! The ending is exactly why I gave this book 5 stars! My jaw literally dropped! I was shocked and I love the shock factor!
There were so many things I loved about this book, but I want you to experience everything yourself. I don’t want to give anything away. I’ll just tell you that if you are looking for a mystery that will leave you on the edge of your seat throughout the book…you need to read Ambivalent!
I am looking forward to reading more books by Stefanie in the future!

A special thanks to Stefanie for taking her time to answer some interview questions for this post!
Who are some of your favorite authors and books? This is a hard question to answer because I have so many favorite books and authors. I will try to name a few without getting totally carried away: Mystery Man by Kristen Ashley; The Beard by Stella James- honestly anything and everything by Stella James I love; Hidden Seams by Alessandra Torre; Wait with Me by Amy Daws; Booty Call by Ainsley Booth; Lick by Kylie Scott; and everything written by Penny Reid, Pepper Winters, and L.J. Shen.
I also love indie authors, such as Kristy Marie- Commander in Briefs; Mystique Roberts- Holding on to Hope; Melanie Bennett- Only for Makayla; Sarah Cole- I Am Woman; Kate Hastings and Amelia Oliver- Act of Congress; and Jessica Ruben, who is releasing Rising (Vincent and Eve #1) in May which I am super excited about. Again, I have so many favorite authors and books that I could probably create a book out of that list alone.
What’s your favorite genre? Romance is my favorite genre because I am a true romantic at heart, but Mystery/Thrillers are a close second.
What gives you inspiration for your books? Most of my inspiration stems from my very overactive imagination, which takes off running several times throughout my average day. On occasion it can be a problem; I can be sidetracked by the voices in my head easily and, many times I feel I can’t write fast enough to fully capture the story they are crafting.
What is your biggest pet peeve? It really bothers me when people disrespect animals or treat them like they do not have any feelings. They have their own way of feeling, one I don’t think humans really understand. I am a huge animal supporter and strongly believe in rescue programs. I currently have a rescue basset hound, a bird, and two guinea pigs.
Who is your favorite character in Ambivalent? Gloria is my favorite character from Ambivalent; even though she is not a central character, I modeled her after several women in my family. She is strong, stubborn, and opinionated, but extremely loving and loyal, which sums up the women in my family nicely.
How does it feel to have your first book published? It is a really great and exciting feeling mixed with so many other emotions that overall is hard to capture with words. I guess I would say I feel relieved, nervous, and surreal, but with an overwhelming sense of accomplishment. Writers put a part of themselves into their art, revealing fantasies, vulnerabilities, and a whole mix of other pieces of them. That makes what authors do both amazing and frightening.
Do you have anything you would like to say to your readers and fans? I want to start by thanking you, Jess, for asking me to be part of your blog site with this interview. I greatly appreciate your support. I also want to thank everyone who reads Ambivalent, or has it on their TBR, and for those leaving reviews on both Goodreads and Amazon. Reviews mean the world to authors. And finally, I want to thank the community of romance/mystery thriller book bloggers and authors. There were so many of them who reached out and sent messages to help me along the way, and I have been truly astonished by the amount of support they all have given. I really love being part of this world!
